Update From Mr Wright 03/09/20

3rd September 2020

Dear Parents/Carers

Welcome back to the Autumn Term – it was great to see all of the children arrive and quickly adjust to being back in school. They have already started to build positive relationships with their new teachers and work closely within the guidance they are given to make sure school continues to be a safe place for us all to learn.

Every day, a team responsible for oversight of the Covid protocols meets to review how the systems and protocols are working. We are mindful that this morning, that whilst things generally worked well, there were some areas of congestion. The main area of congestion was around the Y1 and Y3 entrances. We have some plans to mediate this and ask for your on-going co-operation.

We will:

  • increase signage to each classroom entrance (particularly related to the different Y1 classes)
  • work to remove the wooden gate which adds to the bottle-neck (hopefully by Monday)
  • continue to review the system and communicate any necessary adjustments

We ask that:

  • as soon as your child is confident enough to go to their door themselves, you leave them at the school gates for them to make their own way (this will be different for different children)
  • if you come into school, there is only one parent with your child/ren
  • if you come into school, your children walk in next to you around the outside of the playground rather than across the middle
  • drop off your oldest child first (this will avoid multiple children at one doorway)

We would like to give the current system chance to work before making any significant changes. As we get used to things and work as a team, things will be more settled. Thank you for your on-going support.

These first two days are focussed on listening to your child read, helping them to re-socialise with their peers and making sure they feel happy, confident and secure whilst they are at school.

Thank you for your co-operation

Phil Wright (Head teacher)
