Dallas RoadCommunity Primary School

Update from Mr Wright 07/09/20

7th September 2020

Dear Parents/Carers

I hope that you had a good weekend and had chance to take a deep breath.

You will be aware from the national news that the number of Covid cases has risen over the weekend and this should act as a reminder to us all that the virus is still present and we need to work together as a society to limit its impact.

Arrangements for drop-off and collection were much more effective on Friday and we appreciate your co-operation. You will have seen this morning the fencing between Y1 and the EYFS unit has been removed and these has eased things further still today.

As part of our on-going review of processes and protocols we have some very minor tweaks to share and a request to make. The drop-off times are working really well with the one-way system and children being dropped off at the time of the youngest child ensuring there is no congestion. Pick-ups can still be improved a little more.

We will:

  • Facilitate the use of both the Dallas Road gate and the High Street gate for everyone to use to leave the school premises (noting that everyone should be mindful of creating space for one another) by opening both sides of the Dallas road gate in the afternoon.
  • Remind the children that they need to stand with adult collecting them – whilst it seems there might be no harm in them running around, they will be mixing with others from different bubbles which we have been at pains to avoid for the rest of the day
  • Y3 children can now be collected at 3:00pm rather than the original 3:10pm

We ask that:

  • Adults collecting children arrive only at the time of their eldest child and avoid waiting on the playground prior to that time
  • Families move off the playground as soon as children are collected
  • Any necessary conversations with friends or staff are conducted in a socially distant manner

It may well be rainy today so the importance of an efficient pick-up is even more important

Thanks for your on-going support

Phil
